Mock Exam Structure
| Part | Questions | Time | Calculator | Main Skill |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MCQ Part A | 28 | 80 minutes | No calculator | Algebraic structure, graphs, exact reasoning. |
| MCQ Part B | 12 | 40 minutes | Graphing calculator | Numerical solving, graph interpretation, model checks. |
| FRQ Part A | 2 | 30 minutes | Graphing calculator | Context modeling and technology-supported reasoning. |
| FRQ Part B | 2 | 30 minutes | No calculator | Symbolic reasoning and clear written explanations. |
Before You Start
MaterialsTimer, scratch paper, answer sheet, graphing calculator, pencils, and a quiet workspace.
RulesNo notes, no pausing, no checking answers between sections, and no calculator during no-calculator parts.
TrackingMark skipped, guessed, and slow questions. These are the questions that drive review.
MindsetThe mock is not only a score. It is a diagnostic map of what breaks under pressure.
Question Mix Blueprint
| Topic | MCQ Target | FRQ Target |
|---|---|---|
| Polynomial and rational functions | 10-12 | At least one major part |
| Exponential and logarithmic models | 8-10 | One contextual modeling part |
| Trigonometric and periodic models | 10-12 | One full periodic modeling task |
| Representation conversion | 6-8 | Embedded across all FRQs |
| Calculator interpretation | 4-6 | At least one graph/table/intersection explanation |
Pacing Benchmarks
- MCQ Part A: near question 7 at 20 minutes, question 14 at 40 minutes, question 21 at 60 minutes.
- MCQ Part B: near question 6 at 20 minutes. Leave 4 minutes for calculator window and rounding checks.
- FRQs: spend about 15 minutes per question, with the last 2 minutes used for conclusion and units.
- If a problem has no path after 90 seconds on MCQ, mark and move. Endurance comes from protecting the whole section.
Mock Packet Builder
- Choose 28 no-calculator MCQs covering function features, transformations, exact trig values, and algebraic restrictions.
- Choose 12 calculator MCQs involving graphs, intersections, tables, regression/model checks, or numerical solving.
- Build 4 FRQs: function concepts, non-periodic modeling, periodic modeling, and symbolic manipulation.
- Score immediately, but review deeply only after a short reset so you can see mistakes more objectively.
Post-Mock Review Sheet
| Error Code | Meaning | Repair Action |
|---|---|---|
| CONCEPT | You did not know what was being tested. | Review lesson, then solve 3 similar questions. |
| ALGEBRA | You knew the idea but made a manipulation error. | Rewrite the clean solution and identify the exact slip. |
| GRAPH | You misread axes, intercepts, asymptotes, or intervals. | Annotate the graph and restate the feature in words. |
| CALC | Window, mode, rounding, or interpretation error. | Redo with calculator settings written down. |
| TIME | You solved it, but too slowly. | Find the shorter representation or skip cue. |
The highest-value review question is: What cue should have made me choose a faster method?
